Solo Show – Andrea Canepa
Opening: July 5th, until: August 1st, 2013
In Ornamento y Sistema, Andrea Canepa draws us into a world where daily objects that surround our private domain, are transformed into devices which question public reality. The exhibition presents pieces that are the result of the deconstruction and later re-systematizing of four typical bourgeois decorative elements. These objects remit us to moments of leisure, recreation and journey: a branch of flowers, a series of petit pois embroideries of home loving motives, puzzles that represent distant and idyllic landscapes and a Persian carpet. Canepa’s artistic proposal consists of altering the above mentioned the objects modifying and even depriving them of their decorative function. Following thus, the avant garde tradition of the modernist design, the artist distills that which is superfluous to renew them as purified entities.
